Sensory Support Service

We are a service supporting children and young people with a sensory impairment. We work closely with their families, their early years settings or schools. We offer this support from the time of diagnosis, often when a baby is a few days old.

We work in the following areas: Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Bath and North East Somerset and North Somerset.

Service staff include teachers of visual impairment, teachers of the deaf and teachers of multi sensory impairment. As part of our team we also employ specialist teaching assistants and sign language communication advisors. We also have a Transition Co-ordinator, a technician, Educational Audiologist and a Mobility Officer who works in South Gloucestershire and Bristol.

Some children have both vision impairment and hearing impairment and may be supported by a MSI (Multi Sensory Impairment) Teacher and a Teacher of the Visually Impaired and a Teacher of the Deaf.
