Christmas Engineering Club - Kingswood

Bloodhound Education is a charity which delivers hands-on science and engineering activities for schools, uniformed groups, after school and holiday clubs, and the local community. Our charity has over 12 years’ experience delivering practical enrichment workshops engaging families of all ages.

We are pleased to say we have secured  funding from South Gloucestershire Council via the Department for Education through the Holiday Activities and Food Programme to run 4 days of activities this Christmas.

 

Date and Time: Monday 18th December  2023   10am – 12pm and 12pm-2pm

                         You can book for the morning, afternoon or both sessions.

 

For Whom: Families with children aged 5 upwards.  Children under 9 must be accompanied by an adult. 

Cost: Fully funded for children  who live in South Gloucestershire and are entitled to benefit-related free school meals.

Activity: Design and build a car using a variety of materials which you will launch with a slingshot to see how far and fast it travels.

Design and launch a rocket. The Bloodhound Car uses a parachute as one of its mechanisms to slow down safely. You will explore the science of air resistance through making and testing different types of parachutes and see the factors that affect drag.

Food Provision: Lunch will be provided for all children, and special dietary requirements can be catered for. All adults are to bring a packed lunch. Free coffee, tea, soft drinks and fruit snacks available for all during the day.

Our workshops are suitable for families with children aged 5 upwards. Children under 9 years to be accompanied by an adult.
Other notes

Our activities are hands-on and lend themselves to children with special educational needs including autism and ADHD. We will have a colouring and craft for children who may need time out of a break from the main activities.

Please note if children do not attend their free booked session without notice, they will be unable to attend future activities.
