Ensuring quality of education health and care plans (EHCPs)

South Gloucestershire Council and its partners are committed to delivering high quality Education, Health and Care plans (EHCPs).

We want to improve the quality, provide greater consistency and to ensure the plan accurately reflects the child or young person.

To achieve this the local area has a quality assurance framework that sets out how EHCPs will be audited so that we can monitor the plans.

The framework is based on a three-stage approach:

Stage 1 - Individual service level quality assurance

This is where each service will carry out their own checks on the process they follow, the reports they produce and ensure that all information is clear in the plan.

Stage 2 – Multi-agency quality assurance

This is where a selection of services across education, health and social care along with the parent carer forum and SENDIAS service review a number of EHCPs.

Stage 3 - Board oversight

This is where the South Gloucestershire Children's Partnership - SEND and Complex Needs Board is overseeing the quality of plans.
