Support for caring for someone with physical disabilities

If you are caring for somebody with a physical disability, it would be helpful for you both to have an assessment of your support needs. To arrange this, please contact the Council’s adult social care team on:

Phone: 01454 868007

Email: CSODesk@southglos.gov.uk

If you would like a carers assessment separately to the person you care for, please see this page for more information. Carers assessments | South Gloucestershire (southglos.gov.uk)

Paul’s Place is a local charity. They run a monthly evening social programme for people with physical, cognitive and sensory impairments. Their website -Paul's Place enhances life for physically disabled adults (paulsplace.org.uk)  - contains lots of practical advice and if the person you care for attends a Paul’s Place activity, you as a carer can have access to their carers’ support service “There to Care”  Paul's Place Carers | Support, Sessions & Events For Carers (paulsplace.org.uk).

It can help to know what support is available to the person you care for. Visit this page for some helpful information, How to register as disabled and the benefits of registering | South Gloucestershire (southglos.gov.uk) where you will also find a link to the document “Information for people registered as disabled”.

Nationally, there are some organisations that provide advice and support for people who have physical disabilities and their carers.
