School holiday activities and food programme

For information on support available for families in the school holidays, including holiday activities and food clubs see the council’s article on Supporting families in school holidays.

The holiday activities and food programme (HAF) is free for those children and young people that are eligible for benefits-related free school meals.

South Gloucestershire council are also able to provide free or subsidized holiday club places for children who are not in receipt of benefits-related free school meals but who the local authority believe could benefit from HAF provision. This may include, for example:

  • children assessed by the local authority as being in need, at risk or vulnerable
  • young carers
  • looked-after children or previously looked after children
  • children with an EHC plan (education, health and care)

To check if your child is eligible for free or subsidized holiday club places, you should email HAF@southglos.gov.uk or contact the organization responsible for the holiday activity or food club directly. Their details can be found in our article on Supporting families in school holidays.
