Local parks

There are many local parks in South Gloucestershire with a range of activities and events for families to enjoy. 

As well as offering a free space for all, many of these parks host a wide range of programmes and events, such as gardening groups, walking for health, fitness boot camps, parkruns, buggy fit, clean up events, wildlife walks and community events.

Parks and Gardens UK website is a free online resource for parks and gardens nationally. You can search for parks and gardens in and around South Gloucestershire and learn about their history and heritage.

Parks with play areas

South Gloucestershire council’s website provides a list of parks with playgrounds and play areas that are maintained by the council.

Skate parks

Skate and bike facilities can provide a valuable outlet for young people. These facilities allow young people to practice and develop their skills, socialise with their friends in a safe environment and keep fit.

Page Park

Page Park is an award winning, Green Flag accredited, welcoming green space for the Staple Hill community.  Visitors can enjoy events, activities and quality facilities. Kingswood Park

Kingswood Park is an urban park with a mixture of facilities for leisure, recreation and sport.  This includes a play area, tennis courts, public toilets, bowls club.  The park hosts many community events throughout the year. Past events have included South Gloucestershire’s Armed Forces Day and annual Fun in the Park celebration.

Coronation Park

Facilities include a play area and sports pitches. There is also a programme of groups and events throughout the year.

Kingsgate Park

Facilities include a large play area, café, lake and model boat racing.  There is also a programme of groups and events throughout the year.

Elm Park

Facilities include a BMX track, skate park, play area, boules piste, and sports pitches.

Scott Park

Facilities include a large play area with accessible play equipment, sports and social club, football and cricket pitches, a floodlit netball court and 5-a-side football areas.

Facilities include toddler and junior play areas and access to local shops.

Historic parks and gardens

Historic parks and gardens are important places of local history or of the history of gardening or horticulture.  They are also enjoyable and rewarding places to visit as a family. Historic parks and gardens can be either nationally recognised or of local importance.

Nationally registered parks

Historic England compiles and maintains the register of parks and gardens of special historical interest in England.  There are eight registered sites in South Gloucestershire.  The Historic England website has more details.

Locally important parks and gardens in South Gloucestershire

In addition to the nationally important parks and gardens there are a number of other parks or gardens of local importance to South Gloucestershire.
