Learning difficulties partnership board

The Learning Difficulties Partnership Board (LDPB) works with local organisations and groups to increase opportunities for people with a learning difficulty.

About the LDPB

The LDPB meets every other month and members include:

  • people with learning difficulties
  • carers
  • representatives from other council departments
  • education providers
  • health and care providers

Members work together to find ways of improving the lives of people with a learning difficulty.

The Learning Difficulties Partnership Board co-chairperson

The LDPB co-chairperson is employed by our Department for Children, Adults and Health to get other people involved in the work of the LDPB and Valuing People Now.

The role also makes sure that:

  • information is accessible to people with learning difficulties
  • money given to Learning Difficulties Development Fund projects makes positive changes for people with learning difficulties
  • people with learning difficulties have the chance to have their say about the services and support available to them
  • people with additional and complex needs and people from minority communities have the same opportunities as everyone else

How to get involved

If you would like to be involved and support the work of the LDPB, email CSODesk@southglos.gov.uk for further information.

We particularly look forward to people with learning difficulties and their carers joining us, so they can join in with the work we do.

Further information and resources

We also have an easy read handbook ‘Who we are and what we do’ that explains more about the LDPB.

Valuing People: ‘A New Strategy for Learning Disability for the 21st Century’ is the first White Paper for 30 years with the aim of improving the lives of people with learning difficulties, their families and carers. The Learning Difficulties Development Fund (LDDF) provides money to help make valuing people happen.  See the council’s article on the LDDF for further information.

The All Age Learning Disability Strategy sets out South Gloucestershire Council's vision and priorities for people of any age with a learning disability in South Gloucestershire for the period from April 2022 to March 2027. It has been developed with the Learning Difficulties Partnership Board, and includes input from key people including parents and carers, providers, practitioners, commissioners, schools, and adults and young people with learning disability. You can read the strategy here.
